Does this sound familiar?

Met this girl about fifteen years ago. Brown eyes, a bit mannish but in a very female way. Husky voice, husky laugh. Clicked. Waking up you thought, I’m glad she’s here. She’s glad she’s here, and I’m glad she’s here. So what do I do? I said I didn’t want her any more. But I saw her now and then, just for drinks or a bite. We always went to the same place, our place. Finally said goodbye for good, sitting on a park bench. She was married by then. Never seen her since. Well, once - I saw her being driven in a car. She was laughing. She didn’t see me. I know where she lives - I could walk there in 45 minutes. But I wouldn’t do that. She’s married, has children, house in the country. Another life.

Every morning I wake up and think of her. Every fucking morning.

It’s a very easy thing to do, to ruin a few lives. You don't need a gun or anything. You can do it with just a word.

And what would that word be?

You're the one who let her go. And now you want to complain? You did this to yourself.
