"You have received a call from an inmate at Dare County Jail," the recorded voice jpyfully and mockingly informs your friend or loved one upon whom all you hopes of liberty rest. Of course when they accept the call they unwittingly and immediately pay the county $12 just to talk to your incarcerated ass.
Planning a vacation to North Carolina's Outer Banks? Allow me to tell you about the jail that will house you should you be caught with a pot seed or if you blow under the legal limit. Before I do, there is another common way that you can arrive here that you must be aware of. All that needs to be said is that the county sells cocaine and then prosecutes the buyers, confiscates the cocaine, re-sells it and the cycle is repeated. This dirty work is handled by a corrupt unit known as the Dare County Narcotics Task Force. They keep the machinery in motion but of course are powerless and unwilling to prosecute their own employees being addicts themselves.
Well, back to my review of the dare County jail.
ACCOMODATIONS: This is a sissy tourist jail. I've stayed in worse motel rooms. It is said by many of the more experienced inmates that the guards here wouldn't last a week in a North Carolina prison.
COMMUNITY: I am the only KodyBear here as far as i know. There are lots of Mexican drug dealers and drunk drivers. I am currently taking Spanish lessons from my neighbor who is a wife-beater!
MEALS: Served three times a day. I would rate them somewhere between generic dogfood and Alpo.
A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF DARE COUNTY JAIL EMPLOYEES
Officer Lee: a large serious man resembling a hippo. Lee is an efficient beurocrat who at times can be helpful when pressured. he does not possess the intelligence to deal with the criminal mind.
Officer Brooks: An overweight pompous asshole with homosexual tendencies who is at all times arrogant and rude to inmates.
Officer Tillet: Typical out of shape state boy on the dole, hears and sees no evil. If you have tobacco or drugs to smoke, wait until he's on duty.

Posted by: at January 31, 2006 10:37 PMI was unfortunately housed in that facility as well, and feel your pain. It was a while ago now (about 6 years), but the nightmare lingers in my mind. I was arrested in Kill Devil Hills, an 18-yr-old female newly arrived from Seattle with my tattooed boyfriend. We were spotted from the first as outsiders, and basically stalked by the local law enforecemnt, notably "Officer Veal". I don't have the time or inclination to recite all the details, but suffice it to say that the whole situation was completely unjust and ridiculous. In fact, I didn't believe it had happened until my second day there, because it was so shockingly unfair - I thought it was a joke!
In happy DARE county, NC; they have some very harsh laws concerning drugs and drunk driving. If they suspect that something on your person will have controlled substance residue, then you are arrested and jailed for First Degree Possession of Narcotics (which in most states would require a large amount of ACTUAL drugs). With a bond of $5,000! Keep in mind that 90% of $20 bills have trace cocaine, and you'll see what a scam they have going. So the item with suspected residue is sent to their lab for testing, which takes 4-6 weeks. And if you can't afford the bond, you'll just have to stay in county. And if you're from out-of-state, no bondsman will free you for the usual 10%, it's too much of a risk! Both myself and my boyfriend were jailed, because we each stupidly said that the item under suspicion was ours, trying to free the other. So they arrested both of us!
And to top off the story, there had just been a huge hurricane in the area, so the jail had been evacuated because of flooding shortly before our arrival there (the inmates were taken temporarily to Raleigh State Prison). However, the flooding was over when we were booked, so we were the only two prisoners in the entire jail! This may sound good to those of you imagining hostile prisoners, but it meant that we were kept in holding cells, instead of the "pods". In a pod, you have TV, microwave, books, an outside courtyard, tables, chairs, etc. In a holding cell you have a small cot and a steel toilet/sink combo behind a small wall. You're not allowed to even have a book.
Fortunately, the other females returned after two days, and I was allowed into a pod. By the way, the previous food review was accurate - I literally couldn't stomach 90% of the food. The girls said that Raleigh State Prison had great food -- fried chicken and peach pie!
Anyway, I could say alot more, but why bother?? I'll just mention that there was a poor girl in there with me, of native american heritage. I think she was about 20. She had an alcohol problem, and had gotten one or two DUIs previously. Then one night she was blacked out, driving back home, and crashed into a car containing four blonde teenage girls from New Jersey, killing them instantly. She came to in jail the next day, with no memory of what happened, and was told that she'd killed four girls. She didn't speak for months after that. At the time I met her, she'd been in county for over a year, and had yet to get even her preliminary trial (because it was such a big case, they were taking their time). She was a vegetarian, so to "accomadate" her needs, they gave her a PB&J sandwich for every meal. Although the alleged peanut butter and jelly came in a tub already mixed together, to be smeared on the stale bread. No wonder the poor girl was so skinny. Anyway, she was a really sweet, friendly girl, and I felt alot of sympathy for her. She's the reason the DUI laws are so harsh there now: because she'd had a previous offense. So now you're jailed, license revoked, car towed; all on your first offense. I heard on the news a couple years later that she'd been sentenced to four consecutive life sentences (as opposed to concurrent), the harshest possible sentence! She just plain didn't deserve that...
Needless to say, as soon as our cases were resolved, my boyfriend and I got the hell out of there, and headed back to Seattle. In fact, that was a condition of our sentence: the judge said we had to leave his nice little town that day. They didn't want people like us around. The reason the cops were on us so much when we arrived is that not only did we look different, we were staying with a friend who lived there. He'd opened the first tattoo shop in DARE county, and they were not happy about it. Him and his wife had been continually harassed from the start. So any friend of his was an enemy to the county.
I already ranted more than I meant to, so I'll wrap this up with some final advice: if you can possibly avoid it, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM DARE COUNTY!!
P.S. I remember during my stay in September, it was about 90 degrees outside, but they kept the jail at around 45 degrees, so that I was freezing the whole time. Just wondering if it's still like that...

Personally think she got off pretty freakin light - death would have been the easy way out for her. If you are going to drink and drive at least be responsible - call a friend or take a Taxi. As for the rest of you if you were not doing something wrong then you wouldn't be where you are.

I was on my way to help him load up and get the hell out of there when I was talking to him she told him that he would not leave and if she had to she would hit herself and have him arrested. That is exactly what she did. When the cops got there he tried to explain that she is unbalanced and crazy. They would not talk or listen to him. Mond you all of his stuff was in the front yard busted and broken. My brother gets arrested and treated like shit. I called the aresting officer that saw all of this and asked if he could escourt us to the house to get what was left before she destroys it and I was told that NC does not allow that. After talking to the officer explaining what I heard which mind you he had no time to be bothered with me. he then left and went to my brothers ex-girlfriends house. this was 6 hours after he was arrested he parked in the driveway got out and was hanging out with them. This is crazy. I am taking this all the way. I have been studing law and I will go as far as I have to. This leaves innocent people with no rights.

If I plead "Not Guilty" my next hearing wouldn't be for another 63 days. Cpl Holland of the KDH PD lied in court directly in front of me, and to the judge, saying the initial reason for the stop was because I backed out onto the bypass, which was not true. I hadn't been on the bypass the entire day of my arrest. I am now living in a 3rd world country in the southeast-west indies and I'm very happy there, and I do not plan to return to Dare County for the durration of my lifetime. So, thanks, and P.S. fuck you, Cpl. Holland. I spit in your families food when I was waiting tables at sunset grille, you fucking piece of shit.

false. She claimed that the person is spamming, the claim that does not
match the official rule. She also claimed that the person is pretending
to be her friend to get her friends.
The accusation is absurd. Who the hell does she think she is that
anyone would pretend to be her friend? What makes her so arrogant?
What sort of idiot cannot tell a different between someone trying to be
friendly to many people and someone trying to fraudulently get extra
credibility by pretending to be someone's friend?
Thinking this is just a friendly misunderstanding, the person simply
explained to Katherine:

Now, put your self in the persons' shoe. What can he do to make her

It's not until the truth is published that her tone start changing.
Then she raised totally different issues.
That didn't left not many amicable options to deal with this kind.
Guess she knew all along that the claim were false. She just didn't
expect anyone would publish the contrary. She's a time bomb. She had
gone the extra miles condemning a person for a few slight friendly
gesture, we'll never know what she'll do to anyone.
It seems that her other much related real motive is best explained by
her very own words:

It's quite unfortunate that the world is filled with envy vermins that
just get this thing against those more successful than them.
The truth is they're simply uncompetitive. Hence, they craft lies and
prejudices against those who are. That's why we have so many nonsenses
justifying prohibition against so many consensual acts.
Some have reasonable cases. Most can be appeased. But some, like the
beldam, should get the fuck out of the gene pool for good along with
all her kind for the sake of prosperity for all before they form
another Nazi party.
It's very stupid trying to reason to such bigots for the same reason
we don't reason or negotiate with mosquitoes and germs. We just get
rid them.
More effortlessly we should set one of the vermin as a sample to show
the rest their proper place. They hit, we hit harder; Those maggots
don't deserver higher level of communication.
Currently our world is filled with unfair misery given to those who are
honestly successful. The mere acts of making honest money are

Unless those who run the fastest also hit the hardest, success will
then simply be a bridge to gas chamber.

take care of everything anyway. Believing otherwise is practicing envy
bigotry.
Yet, capitalists, out of benevolence have given more and more to those
who oppress them. Only capitalists patiently give the other cheek and
repay hatred and genocide with aids and helps often to ungrateful angry
mobs.
When vermins like Katherine keeps being influential, it should be about
time all of us to stop playing nice. Keep doing otherwise means having
to realize that it's really fear and not benevolent or mercy that
motivate us.
Long live freedom, competition, rationality, meritocracy, prosperity,
and proper alignment between individuals' interests to productivity as
a whole. The world will be a better place if all of her kind went
extinct.

KARACHI: In a shocking incident of vigilante justice, a mob in Karachi on Wednesday burnt three bandits alive near the Timber Market, venting their anger and disgust over the rising crimes.
The gory incident took place when four robbers barged into Akbar Soomro’s apartment on the third floor in the Somiya Mukarram Palace, situated near the Timber Market. The robbers barged into his house at around 1:30 pm and held the children hostage at gunpoint. They cut the telephone line and electricity wires and locked the house from inside and started misbehaving with the women.
The bandits looted cash and jewellery. When they were about to flee, the door bell rang. When the bandits opened the door, they found Akbar, the head of the family. They shot and injured him and started fleeing.
Akbar, a seaman by profession, chased the bandits and made a hue and cry. The passers-by and residents of the area caught the three bandits and started beating them, while the fourth escaped. They immediately shifted Akbar to a hospital where he was declared out of danger.
In the meantime, 800 to 1,000 people gathered at the scene and started beating the robbers with fists, blows and sticks. Some people brought kerosene and petrol and sprinkled it over the bandits and the mob torched them. Some people resorted to aerial firing and also shot and injured the bandits before they were killed.
A large contingent of police tried to rescue the bandits but the public resisted and pushed the police back. Edhi workers who tried to save the bandits who were aflame were also beaten by the public. After a tough struggle of 20 minutes, the police managed to shift one injured bandit to hospital, while two bandits who were completely burnt died on the spot. The third bandit died in the hospital after struggling for life for two hours.
The residents said they were happy over the incident and praised the persons who had torched these robbers alive. The robbers, they said, looted the area people and had been killing them for just a cell-phone or cash. They added due to this, they had instructed their children not to resist and surrender cell-phones to the robbers. They said what the people achieved was justice because had the bandits been arrested, they would have been granted bail by the courts and would have resumed looting.
According to the residents, bandits regularly robbed the passers-by on Nishtar Road late at night and deprived the poor vendors of their day’s earnings. Station House Officer, Eidgah, Nasir Mehmood, said the bandits were unidentified and their bodies were shifted to the morgue. He added that they had found two TT pistols from the bandits and jewellery and Rs 20,000 looted from Akbar’s house.
The SHO said two FIRs were lodged – one by Akbar Soomro and the other on behalf of the state under the Arms Ordinance for the pistols recovered from the bandits.
