why, God?

why can't we just live day by day content with the knowledge that we're simply alive, and want for no higher truth, or purpose? why do we desire for more, when more will never be enough?
why the fuck do I ask such stupid questions?

Because life is as it is because we are content too much the way it is, that's why we don't change it. But we are unhappy with the way things are, and thats why we want something different. Its not bad, as long as it doesn't upset us to much (either a really big problem, or a problem overeacted over).

Life is a quest for finding out new stuff, how boring it would be if we would never life to find new things, and hope that we find new things.

It's not a stupid question.

I guess you're right - we are the only animals that have an instinctive need to make logical sense of everything there is. Which leads us inexorably to the ultimate Why. Which is the one agonizingly unanswerable question. Ignorance would be bliss, most of all because that is where we would be closest to the ultimate Answer.

It's not a stupid question, but there is a simple answer:

Because we are self-aware.

It is not what we have or want to have that is the problem. It is how we dwell upon it that is the problem.
If a brother has more and we dwell on what they have and we have not, we are entering into sin, jealousy, and envy. But if we are truly happy for those who have more and truly want to help those who have less have more there is nothing wrong when we get more as long as we own it and it does not own us.

Being content is realizing that wherever you are at in life things can go two ways, better, or worse. If you dwell on it, especially the worse, things will most likely get worse. If you dwell on the better you most likely will lose what you have. You have to treat what you have, no matter how little, as if you are at the top of the world, and not let lack enter into your mind more than as a passing thought.

Yes, I know, brother so and so has this and that and you do more for others and still have not. It is not what you do, it is how you think and believe. If the most important thing in your life is your relationship with God, you will always have more and some will always think you do not deserve because you do not do as much. But here in is the rub, it is all about relationship, not “doing” that counts with God. If you have the relationship, listen, and hear from God, and are obedient to follow Him you will always do just what He wants. Yes, sometimes it will be more, but a lot of times it is nothing more than talking and listening to Him.

So, look around and see all the great things you have. Remember the story of the man who felt sorry for himself for not having shoes, until he met a man who had no feet. Well that is how we should look at it. We should be happy with what we’ve got knowing that God rewards those who seek Him.

Hebrews 11
6. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Seek God’s Face, not just His Hands - Do not seek Him for things, seek Him because you want to know Him and you want a relationship with Him. Good things will get better and bad things will go away faster.

God Bless You as you hear His words and follow His leading.
