I grow alot of facial hair, which I shave everyday... I'm a woman... I wear make up to cover it up and sometimes I stay awake at night afraid that someone noticed it... I hate this, I would be pretty -scratch that- I'd be beautiful if it wasn't for that, and sometimes I get really mad at God for this.
Posted by anonymous at January 25, 2006 5:24 PMThere are solutions other than shaving. A permanent solution is electrolosis, which removes individual hairs while killing the root, so it never comes back. Another idea is to check with your doctor; you may have a hormonal imbalance. There are also products such as Nair, made especially for removing facial hair.

If you afford it, get laser hair removal. If you have light skin, there are lasers and if you have dark skin there are lasers for that skin type, too. It's not cheap but I've had it on underarms and bikini and it's amazing.
I worked at a Medical Spa when I got this done. If you decide to check it out, be sure that of you use a medi-spa that they have a doctor's supervision. Even better, you might be able to go straight to that doctor if you're uncomfortable with the spa environment. You can also check with your dermatologist, they generally do LHR.
The newest ones are not painful like the old ones were. They blast out this freezing air before and just after the laser pulse so that you don't feel it so much. Ask for the laser that does that (some don't have CO2, and one only shoots it *after*) because it's more comfortable. Also, many medi-spas run specials (get the first treatment free, etc). You'll need 4-6 treatments every 4-6 weeks, and they are legally not allowed to say it's permanent- only that it's a reduction. You might have a few that grow back but nothing like before. (Generally, too, they are finer than the original hair).
Now, if it's blonde you may be out of luck because the lasers need the pigment to attract to. People who are blonde or have white hair generally don't get good results.
I hope this helps. I'm no doctor but I have had the treatments. Do your research, in my area a full face costed about $300 per treatment. That may vary by about $100 +-.

Posted by: at February 1, 2006 7:40 AMOf course we noticed!
Get rid of it by any of the ways mentioned by all the dogooders above. But try experimenting with a "Hitler" before you lose it completely.
