In the event of a 4 car crash - domino effect from 4th guy and I got the tail end of it, am wanting to claim for bumper damage and bumper floor damage, does the guy behind me pay up or the 4th guy who rammed the 3 cars?
I have been told that I claim of the guy who ran into me, who in turn claims off the 3rd guy, who in turn (!) claims off the 4th guy who did the damage?
How quickly can these claims be sorted?
This is such a headache!
Listen to KFI 640 AM Handel on the Law (weekends 6am-11am) I think. Call in and ask your question. www.kfi640.com
Good Luck.

Posted by: at February 7, 2006 11:33 AMHaving worked with insurance and claims for over 10 years, I can tell you that it really depends upon the state that you live in. And, what the situation was. Were you stopped at a stop sign or traffic light? Or were you driving down the road? Some states have different laws on how much at fault a person is.
But, in most cases you or your insurance company would go after the guy that started the chain of events. That person would be the initial cause of the incident. It would probably be easy for the person that struck you to deny your claim since they were actually "pushed" into you.
You could try to file a claim against the person that hit you, but that probably be a waste of your time and theirs. Do the right thing and go after the person that started it all.
Posted by: ds at February 17, 2006 7:57 AMThanks, as it turned out, my insurance co advised me that to claim against the guy who did the overall damage, so am getting my car repaired through his insurance. (I am not touching my insurance!!
Thanks for your posts.
