Think about this. The price of gas went down for a short time and then started back up. Now if I remember correctly this happened in the past also and when it went back up, it stayed up and that became the new plateau. I'll bet you that this summer the price will go to near $4.00 a gallon and then drop back down only to rise up again. Are these plateaus driven by the oil companies who, by the way are making a whole lot of money.
I say we, the American People, stand up and demand that our people in Washington, D.C. take some kind of action like they did against ENRON.
Something needs to be done. Rise up and write your congress person and demand something be done. Gee, we might even have to elect new people until something is done.
Or, maybe I am all wet.
Posted by anonymous at February 7, 2006 10:01 PMThe customer service people from Exxon informed me that they are just providing a product and that thier prices are based on supply and demand. They also said that we should look to our government for tax breaks because essentially they are responsible for the price of gas here in the US. I'm sure congress will be more than happy to give up some money to help out the citizens of this fine country. Look how much help they are already giving to lower the cost of heating our homes. God Bless America!
Posted by: at February 8, 2006 5:31 AMHow on earth can anyone use the words "Exxon" and "customer service" in the same sentence? What Exxon is really doing is gouging us. Remember, their corporate profits last year were the highest that any corporation has ever posted. In my house, we're boycotting them.
I agree with the poster 100%. I remember the last huge spike in gas prices after Katrina, when they went up $3.49 a gallon. I saw a gas station one day with gas for $3 and I thought, yay! It's only $3 a gallon, I'm filling up! Then it occurred to me that they had me right where they wanted me---happy to pay "only" $3.00 a gallon.
Posted by: at February 8, 2006 5:45 AMYou think your gas prices are high. Try living in the UK. Yes, it is the oil companies/oil industries fault.
Posted by: at February 9, 2006 5:16 AMMy response to this post (the first response) was all sarcasm. I know it's the oil companies. I also know that the government is not going to give up thier cut.
Posted by: at February 9, 2006 6:30 AMI think we all recognized the sarcasm.
