sleep habits

I have a very inconsistent sleep pattern... and it's truly affecting my daily life, I can't get anything done. Everytime I fix my sleep pattern, it gets messed up and the cycle begins again. sleep 4pm-9pm, awake 9pm-5am, sleep 5am-8am, awake 8am-4pm.. I would say my sleep pattern changes every week...

anybody have any suggestions?

I really screwed up my sleep pattern once. I was studying for my entrances, and found that I studied best at night... And so, after a month or so could sleep ONLY in the morning (I needed to sleep from 8am to 4-5pm). I fixed it by forcing myself to stay awake for successively longer durations in the morning (caffeine helped).

I think you should consult a doctor if your sleep pattern is changing very erratically.

Is the inability to develop a sleep pattern the only problem? Do you have aching joints or a sore throat. I'm asking because it could be a medical problem.

If not, there are many web sites that offer suggestions for helping you sleep. I'd check out some of them.

Good luck.

Nope, I dont have any other problems. Just can't maintain a stable sleep pattern.

get a referral to a sleep clinic. This is not the place to go to to get advice.

Many people work shift work. One week they work 8am to 4pm; then the next week it's 4pm to midnight, and the third week it's midnight to 8am. My father did it for 25 years, so I'm sure you can get some power over your problem.

Maybe you should watch more tv to fall asleep, just turn the box on when you want to fall asleep and I bet you'll fall asleep very quickly.
Sorry that's a very useless post I know but well, better laugh about it I guess. I've had sleep problems too when I was younger and discovered - but only once I had recovered a descent sleep pattern- that I had trouble sleeping because I had trouble accepting a relative's death. Maybe there is something in your life that can explain your sleep cycles?
