For those who wanted a follow up to the earlier post about my step daughter here's the diagnosis. After seeing a child psychologist we have learned that she has Asperger syndrome. During the testing she had to exhibit one or more of certain behaviors to be diagnosed with this. She exhibits every single one of the behaviors on the test.
I guess she isn't just plain evil. Now I feel bad because I thought she was just spoiled. Anyway, the next step is to determine whether or not she will benefit from medication.
Thanks for everyone's advice and input. Hopefully now we can tackle this problem and have a more pleasant daughter.

Posted by: at February 26, 2006 11:10 AMWhat exactly is Asperger syndrome?
Posted by: at February 26, 2006 12:38 PMThanks :)
PS - Hope things go well with your daughter!
I'm the other one who had an evil stepdaughter. I am so glad you took my advice! I also know a couple whose adopted son has Asperger Syndrome; he'a a litle on the strange side, but a pretty nice kid otherwise. I met these people when I was taking my grandson to his Tai Kwon Do lessons. TKD worked well to help their son; it teaches self-discipline among other things. He's actually a black belt now. Why don't you try this for your stepdaughter? It will give her a great sense of accomplishment and self-worth, and help to teach her to work with others. I wish you all the best.
As to the person inquiring about what Asperger Syndrome is: while you're on the internet posting stuff here, try doing a search and find out what it is yourself!
Posted by: at February 27, 2006 5:28 AMThat is a great idea, teach the little raging fucks how to beat the living shit out of someone.
Posted by: at February 27, 2006 7:45 AMIt looks like Potty Mouth up there doesn't know what the martial arts are about.
IMHE the ones who really get peeved about youngsters learning self defense are the bullies who would rather just see everyone else as victims who can't defend themselves.
Posted by: Alex Ludd at February 28, 2006 11:18 AMJust because you teach some out of control kid "The Martial Arts" does not mean he/she will apply them properly. So you can kiss my ass, Alex.
Posted by: at February 28, 2006 3:22 PMTKD does not teach anyone how to "beat the living shit" out of anyone. It is a discipline of self-defense; its tenets include self-control, integrity and persistence. It teaches teamwork, and this little girl would greatly benefit from learning how to work with others.
I hereby invite the previous commenter to kiss both Alex's ass and mine.
OP: Please keep us posted on your stepdaughter's progress.
