"isolate the variables to be optimistic?"
"Think of an ant farm, we are of course the ants. Why are we the ants? because we're insignificant like them of course. We go throughout life, never giving a second thought about what we do or say, we do what we're told, but one day, something changed, something new, something amazing. An ant on his route got lost, and wandered out of the ant farm, and what does he find? He finds the truth, he sees it from the outside and how pathetic everything is, the foods he enjoyed, the pleasures he thought, the goals he set,... they were all nothing, meaningless, absolutely nothing. What does this ant feel? he feels GOD DAMNED EMPTY, he feels like shit. he feels that this is all bullshit. What can he do? Can he go back and share with his fellow ants? How can he? A picture is worth a thousand words and he will never be able to convert to anyone. So the ant becomes isolated, alone. Why? just because he can see the truth? to perceive what others can not? Why is it always like this? The truth is, the little insignificant ant isn't the only one. There are much much more, not a majority of the population, mind you. but still, enough to be a force to be reckoned with, but why doesn't the other ants support their fellow ant? The ant, same as them, have perceived the real truth, of the true pathetic shit house which they called the the world? why? because they're weak, none of them have the strength, the power, the will to hold on to this truth, like the ant they are also crying out why why why in their minds, and there is no one with the answer. its like a disease, everyone's sick, what do you do? call in the doctors of course but alas, the doctors themselves have fallen ill, what now? everyones on their own, and you know what the sickness is called? LIFE, the very essense of life, thats what the sickness is, the up and downs, the many problems, the burdens of it...."

Amazing!
I have an opposing conclusion from you. It is not life that is the disease, it is ignorance.
If you wee not alive you would not experience the pain, it is not life that bothers the ant, it is life that is rife with pain.
Life by itself is the sweetest necter you could find little bee.
The French auther/ poet/ essayist Baudelaire said: "Love is a crime that needs an accomplice."
Get a companion who would share your joy at learning and your love for life and you shall need nothing else in all of this wide world.
