I hate people who use reverse racism. You know, like when you say something to someone that has NOTHING to do with race, and then they make an unneccessary (sp?) scene about how it is sooooo racist, yada yada yada.
Ok, I would like to preface this note with the fact that I like nice people no matter who you are, what you've done and what this note is really about, what race you are. As long as you're a good person, we have no beef. BUT I HATE IT when people act incredibly ignorant and further their own stereotype.
Tonight at my work there were about 10 people in dark jumpsuits walking by with HUGE bins. They stopped at our store and asked where Wet Seal was. My coworker (who is a really tall skinny white guy and a huge geek) replied and then joked "What are you guys gunna do? Go steal all of Wet Seal??" The lady said "No, you're going to steal all of Wet Seal!" I thought she was joking back.
WELLLLLL, said people in dark jumpsuits all happened to be black. Ok, no biggie, right??? WRONG! She came back with 5 of her friends. She wanted my manager's name, the number to the store, etc. She goes on about how racist it was that he said that, yada yada yada. Now I admit, my coworker probably should have known not to say something like that, BUT COME THE FUCK ON!!!!!!!! HE WAS JOKING AND PEOPLE NEED TO GET A FUCKING SENSE OF HUMOR!!!!!!!!! I know for a fact that my coworker would have said that if all of those people had been white, mexican, asian, or purple!! They were wearing dark jumpsuits with HUGE bins! Isn't that what people wear and lug around when they are planning on stealing stuff????
SOOOOOOO then my coworker apologized and told her he was just joking around and that he did not mean ANYTHING racist by it and that he was very sorry for offending her. That meant nothing to her. Few more minutes go by and MORE but different people from that company come by and go on and on about this. PEOPLE GET THE FUCK OVER IT!!!!!! SERIOUSLY ALREADY!!!!!! Now come on, when you get all hyped up over something that meant nothing in the first place and THEN the person apologizes and tells you that he honestly did not mean it in that way and still you go on......THAT is just fucking dumb. A while later a couple HUGE black guys walked by sizing my coworker up. We had to call security and have him escorted to his car at the end of the night.
Stereotypes exist because people do things to prolong them. If everybody who was white had cats, the stereotype would be that white people all have cats. Now we know that not everybody who is white could have cats, but bc many do that would be the stereotype even though there are white people who DO NOT have cats, who hate cats, who are allergic to cats, etc. OK so what I'm saying is, different races would not have certain stereotypes if people of said race did not do things to further them.
We have all witnessed or seen some movie with a loud black woman who just gets in your face and is obnoxious and ignorant. But we all know deep down that not all black women are like that. I have a VERY VERY VERY nice black woman for a neighbor. We occasionally walk our dogs together and not once have I thought she was obnoxious or ignorant and in fact have found her to be my favorite neighbor. But when the people from the mall act like that over something so stupid and trivial, they further their own stereotype of being ignorant.
Now my coworker probably just furthered the stereotype that those people have of white people all being racist or whatever. I'm sorry though, I just think people need to lighten up. Seriously. It was meant to be a joke, and NOT a racist one.

So many blacks (not all of them) blame every negative thing that happens to them on racism, when nothing could be further from the truth. They don't get good customer service, it's not because the staff is lazy, it's because they're black. They don't get the job they want, it's because they're black, not because the person who did get the job had better qualifications. You turn around to find a store full of customers and respond to the first person who asks for help because you don't realize the black person was there first, you waited on someone else before them because they're black. The meal in the restaurant is not good, it's because they're black, not because the cook is incompetent. They get locked up, it's because they're black, not because they were selling drugs. You stand near them in a store, it's because you think they're shoplifters, not because you're just doing your job. This attitude fits in perfectly in a society where no one is responsible for their own actions; it's always someone else's fault.
Ever seen the United Caucasian College Fund or the National Association for the Advancement of White People? How about White Entertainment Television? How about Ivory Magazine? The White Panthers? We wouldn't dare, but it's okay to have organizations and media for blacks only. It's okay for blacks to be racist, and that's just what your Wet Seal people were. How hypocritical.
Shopping malls tend to be racist though. Stores used to have signs saying "No Coloreds." Now the sign says "No COLORS", but the intention is the same.

Well, LC, that brings up another point: blacks are not the only race that has ever been treated badly. But they are the most vocal about it. Millions of Jews were exterminated during WW2, and you don't hear them demanding reparations.

I do not refer to black people in general as "niggers." Anyone of any color can act like a nigger. Using the n-word does not make a person a racist. Some people just deeserve the term.

And especially when in this case where they used it against themselves and what was said had nothing to do with racism. Or really, I guess these days they use it to HELP themselves. When they throw that little cookie out there, theres very little we as another race can do to make our point. All because some old white people treated their great great great great great grandparents like crap. I didn't do that to them. In fact, my ancestors didn't either. My great-grandpa came over on "de boat" from Italy as an infant. My grandpa on my other side who is my mom's dad came over from Ireland as a child in the 40's. WTF.

Though, I will admit that black people do over complain sometimes, there is truth in what they say, regarding their treatment in America. Not enough is shown in mainstream media and institution, on blacks as the normal America. Everything that is ever shown is that they are the 'other'. On Television and Movies, there is no serious dramas without the 'black' guy getting killed. There is no lead black actor doing a thought provoking story without being old, or giving advice to a young white stud.
Yes, some people do not hire you because your 'black' and its a fact. Even with that, even when you do get hired , there are crebibility issues. Minorities do face these things and they do exist, and the more you deny it, the more they will argue about it, because it will never stop.If they feel like there lives dont mean anything, what the hell am I being quiet for. Some will even complalin when they are trying their best and reaching the top. Is what they say senseless? Don;t you think there may be some truth to it? Aren't they people like you and I, made of the same brain matter, muscles, bones, and if its over a million people complaining like this, not on a constant basis by the way- they could do a lot worse considering the situation, don;t you thikn that at least some of what they say should be taken into consideration. LIke someone said in a blog 'white people at their best will realize it and treat people properly, black people at their best will try hard even against the odds, white people at their worst will deny it, black people at their worst will continously complain and become nihilistic'. So this situation is more than one dimensional. Its both sides that have a problem. There is nothing that can disprove that racism is here in America. Nothing. Especially after Katrina, and all those times that cops beat the crap out of minorities, not to mention the totally unethical polic shootings. You just cant deny the fact that it exists, and denying means your hiding yourself from the truth cause it doesnt sound good to you. If you know someone is complaining about something, LISTEN. Why don't you just listen? You dont even have to understand , but LISTEN. And from that, you will know, compare and contrast. Maybe add a few in, but DO NOT DENY WHAT THEY ARE SAYING.
